Fancy spray painting any of the buildings?

You can't usually 'soft' boot your machine with [Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del] while
A-10 is running. But, if you have a bad mission and don't want to save the
results of a mission there is a short period while the next part of the
program is loading when you can 'soft' boot.
After a bad mission but, while the next section is loading, hold down
[Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Del]. When you restart the game it will be as if your
awful mission never happened.

To keep your pilots alive forever, make a copy of the PILOTS.DAT file before
going on a dangerous mission. If you get killed, you can copy the file back
and your pilot is resurrected as though he had never flown the fatal mission.
For example, to copy the file, change to the Aces directory and type:
   COPY PILOTS.DAT BACKUP.XXX
To resurrect a pilot, change to the Aces directory and type:
   COPY BACKUP.XXX PILOTS.DAT
Make sure you copy the PILOTS.DAT file every time you successfully complete
a mission.

When you complete CASHnGRAB, try and get the NUDGEPOT. Hold down the Z key until
the ONE symbol stays lit, then press the X key and let go of the Z. Repeat this
until you have the maximum number of nudges (10). You can also try this when
you are gambling on the Money Ladder after a win.

Make regular checks on the outside view to check your engines; if your co-pilot
has been hit you don't get any warning. Fuel leaks can be critical to the
success of a mission. If necessary you need to turn off an engine or two and
drop out of formation to conserve fuel. If your engines are on fire point the
nose at the ground and try diving at between 350-400 mph - this is useful in
later levels when one fire extinguisher per engine isn't enough.

For a little diversion in this aged martial arts game walk to the bottom
right of the Dojo screen (where you choose the events) and press [B]. You
can now have a quick game of Breakout.

o keep your pilots alive forever, make a copy of the files that have your name
before you go on a dangerous mission. For example PILOT1.PLT or JOHN.PLT.
If you get killed you can copy the file back and your pilot is resurrected as
though he had never flown the fatal mission. For example, to copy the file
JAMES.PLT change to the Battlehawks directory and type:
         COPY JAMES.PLT JAMES.XXX
To resurrect the pilot change to the Battlehawks directory and then type:
         COPY JAMES.XXX JAMES.PLT
Make sure you copy the .PLT file every time you have a successful mission.
Make a separate backup copy for each pilot you have.

If you're struggling and don't want to repeat a mission should you mess one up
you can copy the COMANCHE.NAM file when you complete a mission. If you then make
a mistake during the mission you can simply overwrite the file.
To do this get into your Comanche directory and type:
copy comanche.nam newname.new
Then should you get killed in the next mission quit to DOS and type:
copy newname.new comanche.nam

On the first screen where the snakes come out of the moat press [ESC] to skip
straight on to the last level.

What you really need to get through this role-playing game is oodles of cash.
Make two parties and send the first one to fight some monsters. When you've
collected some cash say 3000 gold pieces give all the gold to one character
and return to the refugee camp. Add the guy with all the money to the second
party and make him give his money to one of the others. Remove the character
who had all the money from the party and then add him again - he still has
all his money.
Repeat this as often as you wish - the money never runs out.

When you engage in battle. Pause the game. Go to the external view and switch on
object identification. That makes enemy ships easier to target. Now move the
view until you spot the enemy. Click on the spaceship to target it then turn on
the auto pilot and return to forward view. Now when you unpause the game you fly
straight at the targeted vessel. Get ready to do some damage and if the enemy
ship shoots at you - launch a missile to set it running and shoot it in the
tail.

From the beach walk off the screen to the left into the forest until you're
stopped by the shepherds. Note the draft of Invisibility that they play in
reverse as they appear. Walk down the path towards the Emerald City. Walk to
the right down the side of the city. Then use the Invisibility draft on the
workers in the tower and enter the tower. Click on the people who are talking
and listen to what they say. Walk to the crystal in the middle of the room and
pull the bell. This takes you to another room.
Examine the scythe and note the draft it gives you - this is the Sharpening
draft. Walk to the left to the other crystal and click on the bell. Examine the
Sphere three times and note the Terror draft it gives you. Walk to the crystal
click on the bell. Walk to the other crystal and click on the other bell. You
should be able to walk out of the city and back to where you met the shepherds.
Use the terror draft to scare them off. Then walk to the left until you reach
the sheep.
Make the sheep jump the fence and note the Confusion draft they give you.
When the shepherd has gone back to sleep use the Dyeing draft on the sheep to
turn them green. Walk to the left past the fence and enter the hut. Examine the
lamb twice. Wait until the fleece stops talking and then click on the lamb
again - this gives you the Healing draft. Go back outside. Use the Dyeing draft
on the sheep again and the dragon then takes you away.

Go left from the beach and you get to a cave with quicksand in front of it. As
you approach several stepping stones appear. Step on all the stones except the
one that has the same marking as that on the door. The door should now open. If
it doesn't leave the screen and try again.

You die frequently so save even more frequently. Watch out for the snakes
because one nip from them and you're dead. Use the crawl feature to wriggle
through secret tunnels and to avoid getting sliced in two. To kill the flying
skulls push the joystick up immediately before hitting the firebutton and you
should be able to dispatch them without taking too many hits.

Make regular checks to ensure the crew is OK and that the guns aren't jammed -
it's easy to miss messages in the heat of combat. Keep at least one pilot
healthy because the plane can end up in a spin if it's in a turn when the pilot
is hit, giving little time to bail out.
Make the radio operator send a MayDay message to improve your chances of
survival when you're bailing out over the channel. Landing an engineless,
bullet-ridden, flame-scorched B-17 after a mission is risky and difficult. Bail
out over the channel to ensure mission success. Before landing, attempt to heal
injured crew otherwise they are hospitalised. Having more than one crew member
peform first aid on a casualty increases the chances of success.

Fancy spray painting any of the buildings?
Getting fed up with planes?
Fancy flying in a truck?
1. You can load the backgrounds from the Aircraft Carrier into any graphics
package in the .LBM format and spray all the walls with graffiti.
2. All files in the DG directory can be swapped around. Therefore you can fly
an F-16 - frigate - truck etc. by typing:
REN AV-8B AV8B.BAK
and then
COPY TRUCK AV-8B
Load the game as usual and take off. Now, when you switch to an external view
you'll be flying a truck!

When you get to the main menu of the game where you have the date and various
other pictures click on the disk icon on the right-hand side of the screen. A
screen appears containing some icons - one of which is of four levers. Click
on this to bring up a screen from which you can select your preferences.
Position your mouse pointer precisely at the top left-hand corner of the 'M'
in the main menu on this screen and with it in this position press either [A]
or [G]. If you press [A] all of your players are given a fitness skill and
form rating of 99. In adition you have œ249999999 available to spend. If you
press [G] you still have the superior players but receive only œ40000000 to
squander. You can repeat this process and it is wise to do so frequently
because your players' scores rapidly diminish. If you become short of cash
you can sell any player for œ30000000.
